Education, Aid, and Global Security Agenda : the case of Syrian Refugees in Lebanon
Education challenges for Syrian refugees in Lebanon are scrutinized, revealing that despite significant funding, many children remain out of school. The interplay between education, aid, and global security agendas in the context of Syrian refugees in Lebanon highlights the failure of education initiatives to substantially benefit the displaced, despite considerable financial investments. Examining the motivations behind humanitarian aid and its true efficacy, the aid sector seems (once again) to serve donor countries' political and economic interests rather than the needs of refugees. The Lebanese government's approach to managing the refugee crisis, leveraging the situation for external funding while perpetuating refugees' marginalization. Humanitarian strategies urgently need reevaluation. For education aid to truly address the rights and needs of refugees while promoting long-term, transformative impacts.
